Turkey Initiates Ratification of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement Signed with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan

Turkey has initiated the ratification of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The agreement, signed in August 2026, features a core collective defense clause stipulating that an armed attack against any member state will be considered an attack against all member states. The agreement comprises 16 articles covering defense, security, intelligence sharing, military cooperation, and defense industrial collaboration. Turkey is the first of the three countries to publicly initiate the ratification process for this agreement.
