HKEX Core Climate Completes First Cross-Border Pilot for Green Certificates and Carbon Allowances

HKEX announced that its Core Climate platform has completed the first cross-border pilot for green certificates and carbon allowances. Fifteen enterprises participated in the green certificate pilot, trading approximately 100,000 green certificates in total. HKEX also signed a cooperation agreement with the Guangzhou Power Exchange to explore the commercial launch of green certificate trading in Hong Kong. This carbon allowance pilot marks the first cross-border settlement between domestic and international carbon exchanges, strengthening the connectivity of green and carbon markets in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
